Tropical Ceiling Fan
Finding Inspiration in a Tropical Ceiling Fan
Tropical Ceiling fans - Remember your last vacation at that wonderful resort on the Caribbean? No, never been to the Caribbean? Well, installing a new tropical ceiling fan in your home may be the second best thing. Tropical ceiling fans come in a variety of shapes and sizes, but all of them get their inspiration from the tropical climate, whether it be an animal, the sea, a plant, or a combination of all of them.
Specifically, tropical ceiling fans usually sport unique (some people call them “strange”) blades. These are most commonly very wide blades, some up to 1 foot wide. The angle at which they are pitch may also throw your eye at first. The exaggerated angle has a purpose, though. The greater the angle, the greater the force of the fan in its ability to move air. Thus, better comfort for you.
Typically, tropical ceiling fans run at a much slower rate than traditional ceiling fans. Again, this is due to the fact that they have larger blades at sharper angles. This engineering innovation compensates for the slower speed at which they operate.
Some ceiling fan companies, in an effort to create more interest in tropical ceiling fans, allow customers to design their own fans. Options vary widely, but some of the most popular choices for finishes are pewter, antique brass, and weathered bronze, among others. For the blades, there are many choices. Palm leaf designs, carved leaves, bamboo (carved, natural, and weathered), cross-woven wicker, sawgrass, and canvas are some of the most sought after.
So, if you desire a little tropical inspiration in your favorite bedroom, look no further than a new tropical ceiling fan. I’m sure you can almost hear the waves lapping against the warm sand and the smell of coconut oil and margaritas.
